FAST-NEPAL: Regionally Calibrated Spectral Method for Reinforced Concrete With Masonry Infills

چکیده

Reinforced concrete (RC) with masonry infill is one of the most common structural typologies in Nepal, especially Kathmandu Valley. Masonry infills are typically made solid clay bricks produced locally Nepal. This study aims to calibrate spectral-based analytical method, namely, FAST, for Nepalese RC-infilled buildings. The FAST method has been initially conceived Southern European RC buildings hollow brick infills. calibration achieved by reviewing code prescriptions and construction practices Nepal updating method. variables calibrated using different information sources a Bayesian procedure consider global local material properties bricks. FAST-NEPAL obtained then verified, considering single school design, which detailed state-of-the-art vulnerability assessment available. Being particularly suitable large-scale assessment, further validated data from Ward-35 Metropolitan City (in vicinity Tribhuvan International Airport) photographic documentation included geo-referenced database collected after 2015 earthquake prepared census purposes. comparisons show that can be conservative relative other more accurate at capturing low-level damage. makes approach preliminary prioritisation

Assessment of Masonry Infilled Reinforced-concrete Frames with Openings

Original scientific paper Reinforced-concrete (R/C) frames infilled with masonry wall, especially with the presence of an opening, are insufficiently explored structural elements. We have experimentally investigated influence of the opening’s type and position to the lateral response of reinforced-concrete frames with masonry infill. Correction factors, that take into account influence of the o...

Study the Reinforced Concrete Frame with Brick Masonry Infill due to Lateral Loads

In the building construction, framed structures are frequently used due to ease of construction and rapid progress of work. Masonry infill panels have been widely used as interior and exterior partition walls for aesthetic reasons and functional needs. When infill walls are omitted in a particular storey, a soft storey is formed compared to much stiffer other stories. The masonry infill has bee...

Seismic Performance of Reinforced Concrete Frames Infilled by Masonry Walls with Different Heights

This study carried out comparative seismic performance of reinforced concrete frames infilled by masonry walls with different heights. Partial and fully infilled reinforced concrete frames were modeled for the research objectives and the analysis model for a bare reinforced concrete frame was also established for comparison. Non–linear static analyses for the studied frames were performed to in...

Blast Design of Reinforced Concrete and Masonry Components Retrofitted with Frp

Fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) products are used as an alternative to traditional methods for strengthening and retrofitting concrete and masonry structures to resist blast loads. The development and experimental validation of a methodology for modeling the response of blast loaded concrete and masonry structural components retrofitted with FRP, as well as corresponding response criteria, is im...

Strengthening of Concrete and Masonry Structures with Fiber Reinforced Polymers (frp)

Since the late 1980s, the civil engineering community has become interested in the application of Fiber Reinforced Polymers (FRP) to the construction industry. These materials are comprised of very strong fibers and a resin matrix. The most popular application of FRPs has been in repair and rehabilitation of structures. In this technique, FRPs are bonded to the exterior surface of the structura...
